Progetto di cooperazione internazionale KMKU in Kenya

On 19 May 2026, the international cooperation project KMKU – Kisaju Maji Kwa Ustahimilivu will be presented at the "Antonio Papisca" Human Rights Centre of the University of Padova. The project was completed in January 2026 in Kisaju, in the Kajiado County (Kenya), one of the areas most affected by water scarcity and climate change.

The event will take place within the activities of the Sustainable Development Festival 2026 organized by Alleanza Italiana per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile (ASviS)

The project, promoted by the Padova-based association Osteria Volante and funded by the Veneto Region, was carried out in collaboration with the Gathengera Practical Permaculture Center (GPPC), Tangaza University, and the Human Rights Centre of the University of Padova.

The initiative equipped a didactic agroecological farm with an integrated rainwater harvesting, storage and distribution system, a practical, sustainable and cost-effective solution designed to be replicated in other areas of Kenya, directly involving the local community in its management. The goal is to ensure continuous access to water in arid areas, support food security, and strengthen the resilience of pastoral communities in the face of climate change.

The entrance to the presentation is free.
