On June 26 2012, with the participation of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navanethem Pillay, the Italian Yearbook of Human Rights was presented at Palais Wilson, in Geneva. The Yearbook is edited by the Human Rights Centre of the University of Padua.

The event, organised by the Permanent Mission of Italy to the International Organisations, in cooperation with the OHCHR, was realised as a “side event” of the current session of the UN Human Rights Council.

The official presentation was anticipated by an informal talk in the office of the High Commissioner, with the participation of Ambassador Laura Mirachian, Chief of the Permanent Mission, Dr. Paolo Cuculi, Counsellor at the Italian Mission, Prof. Marco Mascia, Director of the Human Rights Centre, Prof. Antonio Papisca, Director of the Italian Yearbook, and Dr. Gianni Magazzeni, Coordinator of National Human Rights Institutions at OHCHR.

The public presentation was chaired by Ambassador Mirachian. Following the High Commissioner's address, there were presentations by Professors Papisca and Mascia and by Elisa De Pieri on behalf of Amnesty International Secretariat. The High Commissioner has praised the initiative of the Human Rights Centre of the University of Padua, saying that she is confident that it will contribute to the development of the culture of human rights, also internationally. Archbishop Silvano Maria Tomasi, Permanent Representative of the Holy See, took part, among others, in the event.

The event in Geneva has followed the presentation of the Yearbook made in Strasbourg at the Council of Europe, on 14 June 2012.
