The legacy of Claudia Frizzarin
Claudia - the core of the rights of people with disabilities - has suddenly left us. What remains is a great legacy. Claudia was an ironic, creative person with extreme attention to people and their needs. She said of herself: "A wheelchair user by necessity and passion, I was born and raised in Padova, always passionate about communication, writing, the sea and freedom, not just without architectural barriers, but freedom to live in society. I strongly believe that diversity is in each of us and that mine is simply more visible than others, an activist for the rights of people with disabilities".
For years, she had been the spokesperson for some fundamental struggles for people with disabilities, such as the defence of their human rights and the elimination of all prejudices. She also devoted great attention to the topic of the Independent Living Project for people with disabilities.
She was president of MIL (Muoversi in Libertà) and was the creator of Disability Pride and the This Ability project.
Claudia Frizzarin's legacy remains with us and will leave a mark on the hearts of the people who met her and in the city of Padua. This legacy will be carried forward and will develop in all the struggles that animate people with disabilities and those close to them.
"Nothing about us, without us!" Claudia's voice will always resonate in this slogan.
