The study trip to the UN headquarters in Geneva, for University of Padua students of the Master's degree in "Institutions and politics of human rights and of peace", is finally concluded
The study trip to the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva, of students of the Master's Degree in Institutions and policies of human rights and of peace of the University of Padua, organized by the Human Rights Centre of the University of Padua with the support of the Region of Veneto - Department for International Relations and Human Rights is finally concluded.
Among those encountered included Ambassador Laura Mirachian, Head of the Permanent Mission of Italy to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva; Archbishop Silvano Tomasi, Nunzio of the Holy See at the United Nations; Zdislaw Kedzia, member of the Committee on economic, social and cultural rights; Alessio Bruni, member of the Committee against torture; Gianni Magazzeni, Senior human rights officer and Coordinator of the National Institutions Unit of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR); Giovanni Camilleri, International coordinator of the ART program of the UNDP.
Students have met also several officers from the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the UNDP, the WHO, experts from UN Treaty Bodies, and representatives of many NGOS which have their headquartes base in Geneva and consultative status at the ECOSOC and at the Human Rights Counci. Students have also partecipated to some sessions of the Committee on economic, sociale and cultural righs and of the Workgroup of the Human Rights Council on the Universal Periodic Review.
