Youth Voices, Policy Choices: 9 years of UNSCR 2250, December 9th, 2024

The UN Security Council Resolution 2250 (UNSCR 2250), a landmark that highlights the crucial role of young people in global peace and security efforts, celebrates its 9th anniversary this December.
The virtual event, scheduled for December 9th, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:30 AM Ottawa Time (EST) will be co-hosted by the Canadian Coalition for Youth, Peace and Security (CCYPS), the DRC Coalition for YPS, the African Union Youth Ambassadors for Peace (AUYAPS), UNFPA, UNICEF, the United Network of Young Peacebuilders (UNOY) and the Americas Youth Advocacy Team (Am-YAT).
During the meeting, youth leaders, government representatives and UN officials from Africa and the Americas will discuss ongoing challenges to make progress with the Youth Peace and Security (YPS) agenda and will unveil three new research chapters from Am-YAT that cover “Youth Involvement in Conflict Resolution and Prevention”, “Youth Advocacy for Human and Environmental Rights” and “Peace and Unity and Diversity: Tackling Polarization Together”.
While attending the event, the participants will connect with a community of changemakers, policymakers and peace advocates from Africa and the Americans and celebrate the noticeable impact of youth-led democracy.
As the event aims to reach a diverse audience committed to the advancement of the YPS agenda, interpretation will be provided in Arabic, English, French and Spanish.
