To win over Covid-19 and all the other viruses, we should rekindle the spirit of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In this Charter, which is our Universal Constitution and the compass of humanity, it is written that "all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights ... and should act towards each other in a spirit of brotherhood".

It is now clear that no one can afford to think about safeguarding only himself anymore. Our health, safety, well-being, future and happiness, each of these precious assets of ours is deeply linked to that of others.

To face the serious crisis we are experiencing, to protect ourselves and those who are most in difficulty, to heal diseases and open wounds, to defend our fundamental rights, to ensure peace, dignity and rights for all, we need more care and more solidarity. It is up to everyone to make some contribution and together we should quickly build a social protection system that protects the dignity of every human person and leaves no one alone.

This is why we must act "in a spirit of brotherhood".
