Thirty session of the Huma Rights Council

From 21 to 24 May 2018, a group of 34 students of the Master's Degree in Human Rights and Multi-level Governance travelled to Geneva for the traditional study trip, during which they met officials of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and several international organisations.

The visit started in a visit to the headquarters of the International Committee of the Red Cross with a seminar on International Human Rights Law and Humanitarian action, and a visit to the interactive Red Cross museum.
Then the group was divided into 3 sub-groups of 11-12 people, and the students had meetings
World Trade Organization (WTO); OHCHR, Human Rights Council and Treaty Mechanisms Division (CTMD); OHCHR, Thematic Engagement, Special Procedures and Right to Development Division (TESPRDD); FIAN International, OHCHR, National Institutions, Regional Mechanisms and Civil Society Section; Permanent Mission of Italy to the UN; EU Delegation to the UN; Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC); and OHCHR UPR Branch.

The students had the opportunity to meet UN human rights officials for a deeper understanding of OHCHR works, in particular, the function of treaty bodies, special procedures, and UPR, as well as the role of civil society for OHCHR.
