The Committee of Ministers is composed of the Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the 46 member States of the Council of Europe or their Permanent Representatives in Strasbourg.
The Council of Europe is an international organisation, based in Strasbourg, which was created in 1949 and now includes 46 European countries.
Its mission is to promote democracy, human rights and the rule of law in Europe.
The Parliamentary Assembly is a deliberative body composed of 306 parliamentarians (and the same number of substitutes) appointed by the national parliaments of the 46 member states.
GREVIO is the body of independent experts responsible for monitoring the implementation by the parties of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (Istanbul Convention). It consists of a minimum of 10 and a maximum of15 members. It draws up and publishes reports evaluating legislative and other measures taken by the parties to give effect to the provisions of the convention.
The Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA) is responsible for monitoring the implementation of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings by the Parties. It consists of a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 15 independent expert members. GRETA carries out visits and draws up and publishes country reports evaluating legislative and other measures taken by Parties to give effect to the provisions of the Convention. In addition, GRETA regularly publishes general reports on its activities.
The aim of the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) is to combat racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia, anti-Semitism, and intolerance in the member states of the Council of Europe. To this end, it monitors the national situation in member states and supports the implementation of international standards in their legislation, policies, and other national measures. Reports on state visits and other activities of the Commission are available online.
The Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) was established in 1999 by the Council of Europe to monitor States’ compliance with the organisation’s anti-corruption standards.
