10 December: Human Rights Day

Human Rights Day is celebrated each year on December 10, the day the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) in 1948.
This year's theme is "Equality - Reducing Inequalities, Advancing Human Rights." This year's Human Rights Day theme refers to "Equality" and Article 1 of the UDHR - "All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights." The principles of equality and non-discrimination are at the core of human rights.

By committing to reducing inequality by advancing all human rights for all, we can overcome global economic, social, health and environmental crises and conflicts, and build societies in which all people grow together by sharing power, resources and opportunities equally.

Equality, inclusion and non-discrimination, in other words - a human rights-based approach to development - is the best way to reduce inequality and get back on track towards achieving the 2030 Agenda.
