On 12–13 September 2025, the city of Parma will host the XXIV National Congress of the Italian Society for Vocational Guidance (SIO), titled “Vocational Guidance looking towards social transformation, desirable futures, foresight, inclusion and eco-social justice.” The event presents a valuable opportunity for interdisciplinary exchange on the transformative role of Vocational Guidance in fostering more just, inclusive, and sustainable societies.

The Congress aims to explore Vocational Guidance not only as an individual process to support educational and professional development, but also as a social and educational practice capable of fostering equity and active citizenship, particularly in a time marked by deep climatic, social, cultural and technological transformations.

Key themes will include: educational inequalities, the inclusion of emerging identities, and the implications of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development within school and university settings. Special attention will be given to Vocational Guidance as a tool for eco-social justice, promoting an integrated vision of individual, collective and environmental wellbeing.

As part of the Congress, the Forum on Inequalities and Diversity (FDD), the Network of Universities for Sustainable Development (RUS), the Italian Network of Universities and Research Institutions for Public Engagement (APENET), the Italian University Network for Peace (RUNIPACE), SDSN Italy – Sustainable Development Solutions Network, the National Conference of Rectors’ Delegates for University Centres in Prisons (CNUPP), SIO, and the Italian Sociological Association – Gender Studies Section (AIS) will organise the symposium “Universities: enhancing knowledge and collaboration with local communities”.
