On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the proclamation of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, European Commission and FRA organised a joint conference which will be held in online mode from 10:00 to 11:30 on 7 December 2020.

The conference, titled “Reinforcing the EU Charter: Rights of people in the EU in the next decade”, is dedicated to the discussion of the Charter’s role in the EU. Distinguished panellists will share their insight on how to popularise, reinforce, and effectively apply the Charter in the fast-changing reality. Leading European politicians and experts will share their insight on how to strengthen the application of the Charter and make it meaningful for the people.

Following the high-level debate, FRA experts will present FRA’s assistance and resources related to the Charter of Fundamental Rights in the follow-up session, which will take place between 11:45 – 12:15. The follow-up session is only available for a limited number of participants.

The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights is providing fundamental rights assistance and expertise to EU institutions and the Member States. The FRA promotes the application of the Charter across the EU as a means to uphold the fundamental rights of everybody in the EU.
