The 'La cura del vero' Laboratory is organising an online Conference on Social Justice: What role do research, economics, and information play today? on Thursday, 15 May 2025 , from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The conference aims to promote an interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral debate among scholars and professionals on eco-social justice, economics, and information.

The conference, coordinated by Monica Andolfato, will be introduced by Laura Nota with reflections on Eco-Social Justice (ESJ), developed in collaboration with Salvatore Soresi, Maria Cristina Ginevra, and Sara Santilli. Roberto Reale and Stefano Lamorgese will also contribute with reflections on the role of information in light of ESJ.

This will be followed by a presentation by Clara Mattei, offering an in-depth exploration of an economy oriented towards eco-social justice.

Clara Mattei teaches Economics at the New School for Social Research in New York and is an expert in the history of capitalism and the relationship between economic ideas and technocratic policies. She is the author of The Capital Order: How Economists Invented Austerity and Paved the Way to Fascism (Einaudi, 2022) and Economics is Political (Fuoriscena, 2023).

The event is free and open to students, faculty members, researchers, professionals, and anyone interested in the themes of eco-social justice, economics, and information, from an interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral perspective.

Registration is required to participate and can be completed by filling out the registration form (available until capacity is reached). The access link to the conference will be shared only once the registration process is completed. The conference will be held in Italian.

The conference is promoted by the La cura del Vero working group, which was established by students from two advanced training courses at the University of Padua. The group promotes debate, research, and training activities within the framework of a protocol between the University of Padua and the Italian National Press Federation.

The initiative is sponsored by the following: SIO Association – Italian Society for Guidance; La.R.I.O.S. – Research and Intervention Laboratory for Career Guidance; Department of Philosophy, Sociology, Pedagogy and Applied Psychology, University of Padua; Veneto Journalists Union.
