Global Campus of Human Rights: registration open for the Venice School for Human Rights Defenders, 15-21 June 2025

Registration is now open for the Venice School for Human Rights Defenders, organised by the Global Campus of Human Rights in collaboration with the European Parliament, which will take place from 15 to 21 June 2025 at the Monastery of San Nicolò, headquarters of the Global Campus of Human Rights, in Venice. It is aimed at activists engaged in the field of human rights, students, PhD candidates, researchers, social workers, journalists, and representatives of intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations, ideally aged between 18 and 25 years. The application deadline is 30 March 2025 for those requesting a scholarship and 4 May for those who do not.
The training program, entirely in English, aims to explore topics such as United Nations mechanisms, gender-based violence and sexual violence in conflict contexts, environmental protection and indigenous people’rights, LGBTIQ+ rights, and raising awareness and documenting human rights violations through video. The school aims to offer and consolidate the necessary tools for human rights defenders to be effective agents of change in their communities while growing the global movement they are part of. To this end, a participatory and interactive teaching methodology will be implemented with the involvement of prominent figures in the field of human rights.
30 places are available and there is an application fee of 1,400 euros, from which some participants between 18 and 25 years old may be exempted, thanks to the available scholarship that will allow them an exemption from the registration fee.
