International Day of Commemoration in memory of the victims of the Holocaust, 27 January 2025

2025 marks 80 years since the end of World War II and the Holocaust. During these 80 years, the United Nations and the international community has tirelessly worked to build and preserve memory, to ensure that the atrocities of those years would never happen again.
Established after World War II in response to the widespread destruction and human suffering, the United Nations was founded with the pledge to create a world rooted in justice, peace, and respect for human rights.
On the International Day of Commemoration in memory of the victims of the Holocaust, the United Nations shed light on the important role of remembrance and education for dignity and human rights, which are still under threat today.
The atrocities of the Holocaust must not be forgotten, for it not to happen again.
However, today, around the world, genocides and ethnic cleansing are still taking place in front of everyone.
For this reason, it is not only important to remember but also to act when history repeats itself.
