National University of La Plata and UNESCO Chair “Economic Systems and Human Rights” launch DHumaS: a Postgraduate Degree for an ethical and sustainable model of economic development

The new program “Human Development and Socio-Institutional Strengthening - DHumaS”, which will kick off in March 2025, is an initiative of the National University of La Plata, Argentina, in collaboration with the UNESCO Chair ‘Economic Systems and Human Rights’. Through an approach that integrates sustainability, human rights and economics aimed at collective well-being, the course seeks to address topics such as: economic systems and human rights, sustainable human development, management and strengthening of civil society and social economy, ethical finance, socio-institutional participation, socio-environmental accounting and territorial planning. The goal is to consolidate the role of legal, political and social institutions, train professionals who can become agents of change and promote sustainable and democratic economic models, as envisioned by UNESCO's Sustainable Development Goals.

It is mainly designed for graduates in the humanities, economics, social, political and legal disciplines and managers of public and private organisations involved in local, human and sustainable development. The course will be held in Spanish and will last 8-9 months, from 17 March to 30 November, 2025, with virtual lessons in synchronous and asynchronous modalities for a total of 5 hours per week. The course will be divided into six modules, for each of which there will be practical activities such as case study analysis, group work and production of documents and projects in order to apply the theoretical knowledge acquired at a practical level.
