Seminar Postcolonial Perspectives on Human Rights: Examples of Challenges and Resilience from East Africa

From March 16 to 20, 2026, the Human Rights Centre will host the second edition of the specialised seminar "Postcolonial Perspectives on Human Rights: Focus on East Africa," led by Professor Anna Cichecka of the University of Wroclaw, Poland. The seminar is organised in collaboration with the Global Campus of Human Rights in Venice, as part of the second semester of the European Master's Program in Human Rights and Democratisation. The seminar, which will be held on the afternoons of Monday, March 16, Tuesday, March 17, and Thursday, March 19, and on the morning of Friday, March 20, is open to students from the European Master's programme in Padua, as well as students from the Master's degree in Human Rights and Multilevel Governance and the doctoral programme in Human Rights, Society, and Multilevel Governance. The seminar will specifically address women's rights policies in East African Countries.
