Seminar "Sudan in the shadows: a crisis ignored"

Two years into a devastating conflict, Sudan faces a catastrophic humanitarian situation, while global attention remains painfully limited. Together, we will explore the roots of the crisis, its human impact, and the urgent need to amplify Sudanese voices in the struggle for justice and dignity. 

Guest speakers

Weam Shawgi, feminist researcher and documenter.

Salma Abusamra, Sudanese filmmaker & human rights advocate; creator of “Survivors”.

Leila Belhadj Mohamed, Journalist specialised in Africa & West Asia, human rights, and migration.

Greta Barbieri, Midwife with Doctors Without Borders, with on-the-ground experience in Sudan.


Registration is open at the following online registration form.

Due to space limitations, in-person participation is limited to 50 people, selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Those who are unable to attend in person will be able to follow and actively participate via Zoom. A link to participate will be sent closer to the date of the event.

The seminar is promoted by: Advocacy Hub - Students' Voices at the Human Rights Center, in collaboration with the “Antonio Papisca” Human Rights Centre and the UNESCO Chair in “Human Rights, Democracy, and Peace,” University of Padua.
