Seminars “Women Peacebuilders” and “Women Human Rights Defenders”

Alessandro Passaro, Pausa Reiki, 2013

The October 31st, 2020 is the 20th Anniversary of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325, which has paved the way for the development of the Women, Peace and Security agenda and today expanded to 10 resolutions. While attention is growing internationally, Italy is preparing for the drafting of the IV National Action Plan on pervasive developmental disorders (PDD).

At this occasion, the Human Rights Center "Antonio Papisca", the UNESCO Chair “Human Rights, Democracy and Peace” of the University of Padua, in collaboration with the Civil Defense Study Center is organising two seminars, which is a part of the activities of the project "Communicating experiences and good practices in implementing the Women Peace and Security agenda -- The contribution of the Italian civil society.

The aim of the seminars is to promote reflection and collect good practices on two key aspects of the PDD agenda - the role of women in the defence of human rights and that in the promotion and construction of peace. The starting points are the experiences of Italian civil society today engaged in experimentation in the two highly innovative areas (cities of refuge and civil peace corps).
