On Thursday October 29th and Friday October 30th 2026, the Human Rights Centre ‘Antonio Papisca’ of the University of Padova, will host the third Zero Evictions Marathon, which collects testimonies, debates, studies and art against forced evictions.
The initiative is organised, as part of the World Zero Evictions Days (October 2026), by the Human Rights Centre in collaboration with the International Alliance of Inhabitants (IAI).
The Marathon will bring the voices of those who resist and fight against this injustice from across the world.
The objectives of the event are: increasing the commitment against forced evictions and homelessness as human rights violations; focusing on the link between forced evictions, homelessness and climate crisis (also in the light of the International Tribunal of Evictions’ - ITE - conclusions); discussing the impact of AI on the housing market and policies; supporting global solidarity networks to defend housing rights activists, and advocating for the implementation at all levels of housing policies grounded in human rights.
The ZEM will feature live sessions and recorded contributions across time zones: on October 29th, it will feature contributions from the Asia-Pacific and Africa; on October 30th, it will host contributions from Europe and the Americas.
Koldo Caslal, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Housing, is expected to intervene.
The Marathon can be followed live in face-to-face mode in Padova (via Beato Pellegrino, 34 Padova, at the Human Rights Centre) or online on the Zoom platform of the University.
The contributions at the Human Rights Centre will be in Italian and English. On the Zoom platform, a service of simultaneous translation will be available in French, Spanish and Portuguese.
In addition, a live stream will be available on the Human Rights Center’s YouTube channel.
The Human Rights Centre premises will be open to students and the general public.
