The Bronx/New York City, Summer 2010. Reflection of successive and ongoing civil rights struggles, the New York City Human Rights Law is one of the most comprehensive anti-discrimination laws in the United States. Across the city's boroughs, Glenn and his few colleagues from a city Commission serve the implementation of the extensive protections it offers, with daily attempts to reach out to the most exposed residents.
From the Commission's field offices to the off-Broadway real-life theaters of community colleges, back-to-work and training programs, and counseling centers for formerly incarcerated residents, these "messengers-interpreters" stand on the frontlines to make the law work – and open for us a surprising window on legal empowerment, through their encounters and exchanges, on an equal footing, with residents of the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens or Harlem. On stage.

Sinossi: "Recitare ora, a basso costo"
Bronx/New York, estate 2010. Risultato delle incessanti lotte per i diritti civili, la legge sui Diritti dell'Uomo di New York (New York City Human Rights Law), inserita al Titolo 8 del codice amministrativo della città, è oggi una delle leggi più avanzate degli Stati Uniti in materia di tutela contro le discriminazioni. Attraverso i quartieri della città, Glenn e i suoi colleghi della Commissione Diritti Umani di New York, incaricati di monitorare l'implementazione delle forme di protezione previste dalla legge, incontrano le persone più a rischio, per informarle sui loro diritti e assisterle nella presentazione di eventuali denunce. Dagli uffici della Commissione ai teatri off-Broadway (fuori dal circuito teatrale di Broadway), per mostrare scene di vita quotidiana nelle scuole della comunità, i programmi di ritorno all'impiego e i centri di consulenza per gli ex detenuti del Bronx, di Brooklyn e di Harlem.
Questi "messaggeri" ed "interpreti" dell'accesso ai diritti civili ci invitano ad assistere in diretta agli incontri e agli scambi con i residenti, per i quali la discriminazione è un'esperienza tanto comune quanto singolare.
